Oil Rigs and Watering Holes

Waterloo to Calgary in a Cessna 150
Alternating with the cattle watering holes (those patches on the ground with dark centres and spidery spokes), another prairie feature appears that's not familiar to us in Waterloo Region. Circular or square patches at the end of at least one wide line  (a road), have dark centres brightened with painted spots of red or blue. These are oil rigs, set up to pump the "black gold" out of the depths of the earth. Here we see two of the over 70 in Saskatchewan. The sun is high; we barely see the hydro lines & shadows.
